What Customers Say About Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009:

Both programs seem to root out and keep out spyware and both seem to do it very well, again Vipre does it for half as much. If I had Kapersky already installed, I wouldn't switch. Anyway, I thought I'd do a little comparison.

Vipre seems to use a lot less of my system's resource than Kapersky. They are both five star, outstanding programs. Viper was easier to install than Kapersky, but then Kapersky wasn't that hard to set up.So, which would I use.

I was running Kapersky and it was doing an excellent job when I got Vipre and if I hadn't agreed to review Vipre, I probably wouldn't have tried it. Don't get me wrong, Vipre's is clean and easy to understand. But Vipre is half as much and just as good as Kapersky, in my opinion, so if I had neither, I'd give the nod to Vipre.

Both programs do realtime monitoring for viruses and both seem to do it very well, but Vipre is about half the price. I like Kapersky's usser interface better, but that could be because I'm used to it.

On this point, Kaspersky compares unfavorably with some of its competitors who offer multi-user or unlimited use home licenses. The purchaser should recognize that Kaspersky is sold as a single-user license. If you have multiple PCs at home, you will need to buy additional copies of the software. Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 is a premium security solution for home PC users. But for those who want the best possible protection for a single machine (or can spend a little more and are willing to track and manage multiple installs and expiry dates on all their home PCs), it's hard to beat the protection offered by Kaspersky. Importantly, you have the option to participate in Kaspersky's Security Network which enables you to share information about new threats and allowing you to download updates automatically whenever they are indicated. Select the express (default) or custom installation to take advantage of a suite of applications designed to protect your computer from viruses, spyware, adware, worms, dangerous email messages and other threats. With over 250 million systems in the network, Kaspersky provides an essential service that provides a lot of value to end users.

I had one friend who tried to talk me out of it -- he had tried to install it on his system and couldn't get it (the software or the system) to work. Nor have I discovered an abnormally high amount of "false positives". I've been primarily a life-long Norton user mostly out of inertia.

Some of the reviewers here have talked about the screens as being as so ugly that they should have a mask over them like the Phantom of the Opera. In fact, Vista (which I really don't like) is way more of a "nervous nelly" than Kaspersky and is constantly warning me about such threats as installation of MS Office etc.My son goes to a lot of online game sites which I'm sure are littered with spyware etc and so far, Kaspersky has managed to catch a lot of "crud".The license is just for 1 year but that is true of Norton as well. While I wouldn't consider the interface a work of art to be hung in the Louvre, they certainly don't make me avert my eyes.Since installation, I have seen no degradation in system response.

I have to admit that I did not have high hopes for this AV software. Installation went smoothly. However, given how quickly these packages evolve, I can purchase a whole new license for 1/3rd the cost of Norton so this seems to be a pretty good solution for now.If I start running into any of the problems that others have found, I will update this review accordingly.NCJAR

However, over the years, Norton has become bloated and slow (not to mention EXPENSIVE).So when my son got his laptop, I didn't feel like plunking down the money for Norton and thought I would give this a shot. I work in the IT field, though, and others have sworn by it.My son's laptop is a Lenovo running Vista with 1 GB ram.

I use other enterprise level AV solution such as Fortinet which is the best enterprise grade AV solution but it's not cheap. The key when you buy any AV software is to look in their website whether they have their own AV database. Buy Kaspersky when it's on sale, you won't regret it. I've always loved Kaspersky because it's one of the fastest AV software you can get in Windows.Being profession in IT, I've used several other software or hardware based AV solutions. Kaspersky is one of the best and cost is very reasonable.I would recommend Kaspersky over Norton or even Macafee.

The only think is its cheaper to buy a new disk from amazon every year than to update the program electronically Give it a try and you'll never go back. Kaspersky is simple effective program that only makes it self known when it needs to be. I think its faster, simpler and better than Norton.
